Emma

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. As a young girl, she moved from London to Oxfordshire where she attended the Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma knew that she wanted to be an actress. For several years, she trained at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school where she studied the art of acting and dancing. When she was 10, she had already taken part in many Stagecoach productions and plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel began casting in 1999. Emma was spotted by Emma's Oxford Theatre instructor. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after they all had 8 consecutive auditions. Emma's film debut came with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). It also was one of the top-rated films of 2001. The opening weekday and weekend ticket sales were record-breaking. Critics have praised both the film as well as the performance by three main young actors. The widely distributed British newspaper The Daily Telegraph called her performance as admirable. Emma received five nominations for her exceptional performance. Then, she was awarded the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actresses of a Film.
